ToggleBefore venturing into the capture of the Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo, it is a must to do a little review on how to capture Pokémon on Pokémon GO, since after meeting Mewtwo, you will also have to be able to catch it.
To catch a rare Pokémon, you will need to be able to make very accurate shots, always able to get at least as good or excellent results. Also, to increase the chances of catching it, you can try spinning rolls by spinning the Poké Ball before throwing it.
How do you say? Not very practical in throwing Poké Balls? Don’t worry. It can be remedied. Before you catapult yourself into catching a rare and very powerful Pokémon, you can start training your catching skills with the wild Pokémon that come out as you walk. Usually, these are weak Pokémon and easy to catch, but very useful for honing your technique: by training, you will learn to make excellent shots and decide the right moment to throw the Poké Ball.
Also, learn how to use Berries, which are used to increase the chances of catching a Pokémon. Each berry has its own characteristic. In fact, there is the one to increase the possibility of capture, the one to calm a Pokémon (useful when it moves quickly) and the one to increase the number of candies that are obtained with the capture. To deal with a Pokémon like Mewtwo, however, I advise you to have several berries available, especially the Golden Raspberries, which significantly increase the chances of capture, which normally, in the case of rare Pokémon, are really very low.
How do you say? Not sure where to check how many berries you have available? Don’t worry, that’s what I’m here for. Launch Pokémon GO on your smartphone and wait for the game to load. Once inside, tap on the Poké Ball icon at the bottom and then on the Stock Exchange icon from the pop-up menu. This will open the bag, where you will find a list of all the tools at your disposal, including Poké Balls and berries.
If you’re running out of berries, don’t worry: to get them, just spin the Poké Stop discs on the map or complete the daily, timed or special missions.
Well, after stocking up on berries and learning how to throw Poké Balls well, you have all the basics to take action and find out in more detail how to catch Mewtwo in Pokémon GO.
First of all, I want to clarify that, unlike other Pokémon, Mewtwo will never appear while you walk. It is a rare Pokémon. In fact, it was made available by Niantic, creator of the game, only by completing the challenges during the dedicated events, participating in the Raids that take place in the various gyms scattered throughout the game (which last about 1 hour).
At the time of writing, alas, there is no event dedicated to the capture of Mewtwo, but it will certainly be re-proposed later and I will update the article as soon as that happens.
In the meantime, you will therefore have to be patient, but that does not mean that you will have to sit idle. If you do not want to be caught unprepared, you will have to study well the tactics to be adopted to face Mewtwo.
Mewtwo is a psychic type Pokémon, so to try to defeat it, you will need to use ghost, beetle and dark type Pokémon, which are more effective. Recommended beetle-type Pokémon are Pinsir, Scizor, and Genesect; Specter-type Pokémon recommended are Mega Gengar, Banette, Mismagius, Giratina, and Chandelure; finally, the recommended Dark-type Pokémon are MegaGyarados, MegaHoundoom, Tyranitar, Absol, Weavile, Darkraland Yveltal.
While waiting for the next Mewtwo event, therefore, my advice is to try to prepare for battle by capturing and upgrading Pokémon of this type in order to have some more chance of defeating it.
Also, in the case of Raids, I recommend that you participate together with other friends, at least 4 or 5, in order to have more hope of defeating Mewtwo in the allotted time. At the end of the battle, if you have defeated him, you will receive Premier Balls, through which you will have the opportunity to capture Mewtwo.
Another legendary Pokémon from the Kanto region, very rare and which has various affinities with Mewtwo, is Mew, also often referred to as Pokémon number 151. Again it is a psycho-type Pokémon, very strong and difficult to defeat.
How do you say? Want to find out how to catch Mew in Pokémon GO? Unfortunately, even in this case, since it is a rare Pokémon, it is not possible to run into it while walking, but unlike Mewtwo, you have the possibility of catching it by completing a research mission divided into 8 phases called A Mysterious Discovery. How do you say? Not sure how to access it? Don’t worry. It’s really that simple.
Once the game is open, to access the section dedicated to missions, you have to tap on the binoculars icon at the bottom right. You will then access three sections: Today, In the field and Specials. The research mission you are looking for is in the Specials section: be careful. However, this is a mission that can be completed only once, so if you have already completed it in the past, it will not appear again.
As I said, the mission is divided into different phases and each of them is in turn divided into three minor challenges, easily computable, which may require you to capture a certain number of Pokémon, transfer them to Professor Willow, make certain shots with the Poké Balls. and much more. For each completed challenge, you receive a reward, as well as for the completion of each stage.
The eighth and final phase will not have any intermediate challenges to complete. In fact, all you have to do is try to capture the much desired Mew. Unlike Raids, where before you can catch a Pokémon, you have to defeat it, there will be no battle, so all you have to do is stock up on Poké Balls, Mega Balls and Ultra Balls, as well as lots of berries, to try to capture it.
Once you catch Mew, you will be rewarded with 4,000 Experience Points (XP), 10,000 Stardust, 1 Super Incubator, and 20 Mew Candies. To view your new Mew among your Pokémon, all you have to do is press on the Poké Ball icon at the bottom and then on the Pokémon item in the pop-up menu.
A list will open containing all the Pokémon you have captured: to view Mew immediately, search for it using the appropriate bar at the top, or select the icon at the bottom right (it will change depending on the chosen setting) and tap on the item Date of discovery, making sure to set the down arrow. In this way, you will return to the list and you will see the Pokémon from the last you caught to the first and you will find Mew in the first place.
