Wearing clothes for special occasions

When it comes to looking through your wardrobe collection to find that perfect item to wear for a special occasion it can be overwhelming to make a decision. There are a number of events that we will all most likely be invited to at some point or other. Here are some key events that you might be invited to and some tips on deciding what to wear.

First date – first dates are incredibly anxious times regardless of whether you worry about what to wear. Once you have decided where you are going to be meeting your date and whether you are just meeting for a meal or are going to be taking part in an activity of one kind or another, you can start to plan your clothing. Unless you are heading off to the opera you might want to go with a smart-casual style that you can dress up with a nice jacket

Wedding – depending on whether you have been invited to the ceremony or just the evening reception you will want to gauge what the dress code might be for the event. If you are attending a wedding you will want to go in a smart suit that reflects your personality. If you are just attending the evening reception you might want to go a little more casual with a nice pair of tailored trousers and a shirt, but you might have a less formal jacket.

Christening –  depending on the type of christening you might look to wear a suit or at least a shirt and nice pair of trousers. There are a number of different ways that christenings or naming ceremonies can take place. In humanist ceremonies people tend to gather in a local hall where guests can enjoy some nice food before the ceremony begins. Again you will want to dress a little more formally then you might otherwise do.

Work Event – there are lots of different work events that you might be asked to attend. These could be formal gatherings like awards ceremonies where you will want to wear a suit and tie and then other gatherings such as conferences and business networking meetings. It is important to find out whether your business has a dress code for these events and make sure that you adhere to this.
