ToggleThe best place to see in Bermuda in 3 days trip is in the UNESCO World Heritage town of St. George’s. Founded in 1609, it’s the oldest continuously inhabited English town in the Americas. The charming colonial buildings and cobblestone streets made me feel like I was returning in time!
I recommend getting to St. George’s early, around 9 AM, so you can wander and explore the town before the crowds arrive. Some highlights include:
After walking around the town and snapping lots of photos, stop for a coffee or snack to recharge.
After exploring the town, go to Somers Garden, just a short walk away. This tranquil park with gorgeous views was one of my favorite spots. Take a stroll through the gardens and check out the replica Deliverance ship.
Around 11 AM, head to the impressive Fort St. Catherine beside Somers Garden. Wander through tunnels and see the cannons and fortifications of this 19th-century British Army base. The views over St. George’s Harbor are also phenomenal.
Give yourself an hour to fully explore the fort before grabbing some lunch.
For a fun way to get your bearings after lunch, hop on the ferry to St. George’s Island. This tiny island takes just minutes to cross by foot and offers picture-perfect views looking back at St. George’s.
After snapping photos and enjoying the scenery, take the ferry back and walk to Gates Fort. This was the last fort built in Bermuda, constructed in the 1860s. I’d recommend the audio tour to understand Fort’s history fully.
Wandering through Gates Fort and seeing the cannons overlooking the harbor took me about an hour.
No trip to Bermuda is complete without some time at one of its world-famous pink sand beaches!
After exploring the historic forts, head to stunning Tobacco Bay Beach just north of St. George’s. Take a few hours in the late afternoon to relax on the sand. Go swimming in the shallow, calm waters or grab a drink at the beach bar.
The beach stays open until 5 PM, so it’s the perfect way to unwind after a history-filled day. Get an incredible view of the sun setting over the colonial town from the beach.
After catching the ferry from St. George’s, I started my day in the colorful capital of Hamilton. Since it was a weekday morning, the streets weren’t very crowded during my walk around town.
Some of my favorite things to see in downtown Hamilton include:
Save time for a stroll through Hamilton’s botanical gardens as well. I’d budget 2-3 hours to wander and explore downtown.
After exploring Hamilton, head to one of Bermuda’s underground treasures – the Crystal Caves. Take a guided tour through these stunning natural stalactite caves formed over millions of years.
See incredible crystal clear pools and rock formations as you walk through various chambers and take stairs into the caves. It was amazing to admire the natural beauty underground.
Plan to spend about an hour touring the caves and seeing the unique formations up close. It was one of the most memorable Bermuda experiences!
After the underground caves, I was ready to spend the afternoon relaxing on another of Bermuda’s gorgeous beaches. Just 10 minutes from Hamilton, Elbow Beach is an easy trip for some seaside fun.
Stroll down the long stretch of pink sand, swim, and grab lunch at the beachside grill. Elbow Beach also has beach lounge chairs and umbrellas available to rent for relaxing in style.
I suggest spending 2-3 hours here to unwind. Leave time to check out Bermuda’s iconic Elbow Beach hotel just beside the beach before departing.
For my last stop of the day, I took the ferry to the Royal Naval Dockyard at the western end of Bermuda. This former British naval base is now a hub of shops, restaurants, and attractions for visitors.
Some top sights I saw in the Royal Naval Dockyard:
Wandering through the dockyard took me 2-3 hours. I recommend going in the late afternoon so you can stay for dinner or a sunset drink after exploring.
For my last day in Bermuda, I headed to the South Shore to soak up more of the island’s stunning scenery.
I started the morning by walking down Warwick Long Bay, Bermuda’s longest beach. With soft pink sand stretching for miles, it was such a peaceful and beautiful place for a morning stroll. Watching the sunrise over the turquoise water was unforgettable.
After working up an appetite from beachcombing, grab breakfast or coffee in South Shore Park beside Warwick Long Bay.
Next, walk off breakfast with a visit to Gibbs Hill Lighthouse in Southampton Parish. As one of the oldest cast-iron lighthouses in the world, climbing to the top of Gibbs Hill treated me to panoramic views of Bermuda from 165 feet high.
There are 185 winding steps up the lighthouse, but the stunning 360° views over the island and its crystal blue waters make it worth the climb! I’d budget 45-60 minutes to take in the views fully and admire the lighthouse.
Get ready to be wowed at the main attraction of Bermuda’s South Shore – the breathtaking Horseshoe Bay Beach. No trip is complete without visiting this crescent-shaped stretch of pink sand.
The late morning is a great time to arrive, after the initial crowds but before it gets packed by midday. Stake out a spot and swim in the turquoise waters, or take Instagram-worthy photos on the beach.
Have lunch at the beach cafe or a picnic along the sand. You’ll want to spend 2-3 hours here unwinding and enjoying the incredible scenery.
After drying off from Horseshoe Bay, hop on a bus and return to the quaint town of St. George’s for a few last-minute experiences.
Check out any attractions you may have missed on your first day, and don’t miss browsing the shops and art galleries around town. Then, enjoy a relaxing early dinner at a St. George’s restaurant before catching the ferry back.
Spend your last few hours in Bermuda winding down and reminiscing on an excellent three days on the island!
